Standing Amitabha from Kamsansa Temple Unified Silla 719AD., National Treasure No. 82, Height 1.74m, National MlisPIlm r)f Korea The figure, the nimbus and the octagonal pedestal were all carved from a single piece of stone The figure has a short neck and tightly curled hair. The robe covers the entire body and is thin enough to reveal the body's contours. The omandorla has a frame of floral motifs, and the whole of the outside is edged with a flame pattern. The octagonal base is surmounted by an upturned lotus on which the figure stands. This image originally stood in the lecture hall at Kamsansa Temple. Click here to return |
