618. Iron
Seated Sakyamuni Buddha from Ch'un'gung-ni Koryo, Tenth century, Treasure No. 332, Height 288cr4 National Museum of Korea Though made during the Koryo period, this statue faithfully follows the style of the Unified Silla period. The casting technique is excellent as is the sculpting. This figure general ly follows the stylistic features of the central image of the Sokkuram Stone Grotto in its hand gestures, drapery and cross-legged posture. The fan-like folds of the drapery between the two crossed legs are also similar to those of the central figure at Sokkuram. Click here to return |
