407. Silver-inlaid Bronze Kundika

Koryo, National Treasure No. 92, Height 37.5cm, Diameter of body 1z9cm, National Museum of Korea

One of the finest examples of silver-inlaid kundikas from the Koryo period, this piece is decorated with a band of ydi designs around the shoulder. The domed upper surface of the upper flange has fine openwork scrolling designs with cloud motifs below and leaf motifs above. The lower half of the kundika is inlaid with a riverside scene with an angler by the water under a willow tree. The foot is silver, with a band of yoi designs just above it.
