Unified Silla, 771 A.D., National Treasure No. 29. Height 333m, Diameter at mouth 227m, Kyongju National Museum

This is the largest Buddhist bell in Korea. Decorated with beautiful designs and cast with the finest techniques, it rep-resents the highest achievement in Silla metalwork in the eighth century. Four panels with nine lotus-shaped medal-lion are set at equal intervals at the top of the bell, and graceful designs fill the panel borders and the bands along the top and bottom. On opposite sides of the bell are two striking points flanked by a pair of apsarases holding incense burners.
