CALL FOR PAPERS

The University of Melbourne, with the support of and in cooperation with the University of South Australia, the University of Adelaide, and the Journal of Economic Education invites the submission of papers for an international conference on the scholarship of teaching economics that is to be held in Melbourne Australia on July 13 and 14, 2000.

The objective of this conference is to advance research in the teaching of economics at the tertiary level. It is to bring international attention to research being conducted in economics education in Australia and throughout the rest of the world. Topics are to focus on what we teach, how we teach, and the evaluation of our teaching and student learning. Attention is to be given to a broad range of student outcomes including later life reasons for studying economics. Studies of trends in numbers enrolling and majoring in economics are also appropriate for presentation at this conference.

A 600 word abstract must be submitted electronically to Dr. Carol Johnston: c.johnston@ecomfac.unimelb.edu.au by December 1, 1999. Papers selected for presentation will be refereed for possible publication in the Journal of Economic Education as part of a planned conference proceedings.
