Peter Kennedy received his B.A. from Queen's University (1965) and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin (1968) and is presently a professor in the Economics Department at Simon Fraser University. He has held visiting positions at Cornell University, University of Wisconsin, London School of Economics, Deakin University, National University of Singapore, University of Capetown, University of Canterbury, Curtin University, University of Adelaide, University of Otago, and EERC, Ukraine. He is the recipient of four awards for excellence in teaching, and the Villard award for research in economic education. Most of his publications are in econometrics, in journals such as Econometrica, American Economic Review, Economic Inquiry, Journal of Econometrics, International Journal of Forecasting, Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Empirical Economics and Review of Economics and Statistics. Of his four books the best known is A Guide to Econometrics (MIT Press) which is in its fifth edition. His most recent book Macroeconomic Essentials: Understanding Macroeconomics in the News (MIT Press, second edition), presents a new way of teaching macroeconomic principles.
