Title: A Survey of Teaching Methods Among Economics Faculty

Abstract: The results of the 207 respondents to a national survey of undergraduate economics instructors indicate that lecture, supplemented by blackboard and textbook, still predominates in the classroom. Despite this, a large number of instructors perceived themselves as "participatory" instructors rather than "directive," and report that they had changed their methods during the last five years moving toward more student participation through either increased class discussion, instructor questions, and/or group activities.
