Title: Algebra and Social Security: A Perfect Fit

Abstract: Because most students work and pay FICA taxes, they relate to the issue of social security. Students can be engaged in the task of collecting data and forecasting sets of economic and demographic variables that determine future tax rates. Students then discuss government policies that are derived from 'their' economic models.
