Title: Using The Merchant of Venice in Teaching Monetary Economics

Abstract: Literature can be used in teaching economics. Here the theme of usury in Shakespeare's play, The Merchant of Venice, and the history of the Christian and Jewish beliefs concerning the charging of interest on loans are used to crystallize lending practices through history.
