The Journal of Economic Education is a cooperative effort of the Council on Economic Education (previously called the National Council on Economic Education), the American Economic Association's Committee on Economic Education, and Heldref Publications, a division of the nonprofit Helen Dwight Reid Eduction Foundation. The Council on Economic Education founded the JEE in 1969 and has provided leadership and financial support ever since. The CEE is responsible for appointing and maintaining the editor, but all JEE editorial decisions are made independently of the CEE by the executive editor based on recommendations from the associate editors, who serve at the editor's initiative.
