FirstUnivBuildingCirca1885 (1).jpg - The second College Building was built in 1855 in Seminary Square to replace the first College Building (which was built in 1836 and destroyed by fire in 1854). This building was sold to Bloomington School Board for use as a high school in 1897. The limestone building portals, to the left and right of center, which referenced IU, were replaced and the originals were salvaged for use in the Rose Well House. The building was in service until 1965 when it was destroyed by an arsonist. Photo from University Archives
