P-granules during Embryogenesis

P-granule segregation during the early embryonic divisions:

a)  A newly fertilized embryo with dispersed P granules.

b)  P granules are partitioned to the posterior cortex by the time of pronuclear meeting.

c)  After the first division, P granules are present only in the smaller, posterior blastomere, P1.

d)  Another unequal division gives rise to a single cell, P2, containing P granules.

e)  When the L1 larva hatches, P granules are localized to the primordial germ cells, Z2 and Z3.
