How do I get an IU email address?
University policy entitles retirees to retain use of their email account.
If you already have an IU email address the account remains active after
your retirement and no additional action is needed to continue using the
account. If you do not have an IU email account you can request
that one be opened for you. There are two ways to begin the process
of establishing an account. One way is to contact the Dean of the
Faculties office by phone at 855-2809 or by email <emeriti@indiana.edu>.
The second way is to ask someone in your department to serve as your sponsor
in requesting the account. The sponsor should be a full-time appointed
staff or faculty member. The sponsor should request the account using
their own email address rather than the department account. Have
the sponsor send an email to <valid@indiana.edu>, give your name, your
IU identification card number, and an email address where the password
for the new account can be sent. For additional information review
the IU Knowledge Base documents: "At
IU, can retired faculty and staff have email accounts?" (http://kb.indiana.edu/data/dddx.html?cust=4836)
and "How do I
get a computer account at Indiana University?" (http://kb.indiana.edu/data/acop.html?cust+8500).
Address any other questions about establishing an IU email account to <valid@indiana.edu>.
If you currently use an email address unrelated to IU and would like to continue an email association with the University you may want to use the Lifetime Email Forwarding Program offered by the Alumni Association. The program is free and available to current and retired faculty. The program is an email forwarding service rather than an email account. Use the online form, Lifetime Email Forwarding Program, on the Alumni Association web site to enroll in the program.
