Assignment 1 Checklist

The sequence you turn in must conform to these requirements. Please note that the requirements are explained in more detail on the main Assignment 1 page.

It must last at least 1 minute, but no more than 3 minutes. It's fine to repeat segments of a track, but please don't write 10 seconds of music and then repeat it verbatim to fill up the time.
It must use at least 4 tracks, each with a different Korg patch. You don't have to have all tracks playing constantly, but please do have places where at least two tracks play notes at the same time.
Patch selections must be made in the DEFAULT PATCH column, not in the PATCH column, so that they will actually be saved in the sequence file.
All tracks must be named something descriptive, rather than the default "Track-1." (Option-click on track name to edit it.)
Delete all unused tracks, including the Audio tracks. (Click on track name, choose Project > Delete Tracks.)
Each track should have a volume and pan setting (made in the Mixing Board). If I look at the Mixing Board and see all the tracks set to the default values, I'll be suspicious.
The beats projected by your music should align with those in the sequencer, proving to me that you used the metronome when doing any real-time recording. In other words, the way the rhythm sounds to me should be the way the rhythm looks in the sequencer windows.
Your tracks should have decent timing. What do I mean? Just that if you record some parts, and their rhythm is a little rocky, that you quantize or otherwise correct them to some degree. It doesn't mean they have to sound robotic, but your sequence shouldn't sound like a drunken garage band.
You must submit your assignment in such a way that I can find it in your server folder. The best thing would be to call it "assign 1," and copy the file into the top level of your server folder. If you put it into a sub-folder, please name that folder "assign 1" (or similar). Please put any preliminary or backup versions into a separate, clearly named, folder so that I don't inadvertantly mistake one of them for your final version.
NOTE: To rename a file or folder on the Mac, click on its name or icon, press the return key so that the name is editable, then type.
