Occupied: Taking up Space and Time

If you come from a distance, you’ll probably be flying into Indianapolis International Airport, about 1.5 hours’ drive from Bloomington. Once you arrive, you can catch the Bloomington Shuttle, which makes the trip between airport and campus every two hours, seven days a week. Fare is $15 for one way or $30 for round trip, and you can make reservations (encouraged but not required). Another transport option, new in town, is Star of America. This shuttle also makes trips between campus and airport, and is slightly less expensive, at $25 for round trip. Reservations are, again, encouraged but not required.

Bloomington’s bus system offers transport from campus to most of the city’s far-flung shopping and residential areas. It is reliable, safe, inexpensive ($1 per trip), and runs 6 days a week (closed Sundays). You can find specific route information at the Bloomington Transit site. If you need to travel to the more remote corners of campus, you will find the campus bus system handy—and free.
