P: CSCI 340, BIOL K483, CHEM C483, or MATH 511. Analysis of biological
data employing various computational methods to obtain useful
information in the emerging area of bioinformatics. Topics include:
structures, functions and evolution of proteins and nucleic acids,
retrieval and interpretation of bioinformation from the Internet,
learning principles, algorithms and software for sequence alignment,
similarity search of sequence databases, estimation of phylogenetic
trees, structural prediction, and functional inference.
