P: E521. This course is a graduate-level introduction to theoretical and  empirical applications in two areas of microeconomics. Applications to  problems in the subdiscipline under study will be discussed. From an  empirical standpoint, appropriate estimation techniques will also be  discussed. Further discussion will consider how the system of firms,  institutions, and consumers respond to economic incentives as well as  normative issues in determining which policies will contribute maximally  to econom
c efficiency and social welfare.
