P: EE 466 or graduate standing. An introduction to problems of designing
and analyzing current machine architectures. Stack, SIMD, and MIMD
machines; use of overlap, pipeline, parallel, and associative processing.
Advanced I/O systems and memory organizations. Evaluation methods for the
performance of computer systems, to enable the architect to determine the
relation between a computer design and the design goals. Some programming
experience assumed.
