Spatial analysis of the economic, social, and political structure of  Russia and the other new countries of the former Soviet Union.  Examination of the physical environment and its potential for human  utilization. Special emphasis on problems regarding the stability of  these new states, current efforts at political and economic reform, and  environmental pollution.
