About the EU Center at Indiana University

Supporting study and spreading knowledge of the European Union

The EU Center’s goal is to increase the understanding of the European Union. It supports the activities of Indiana University faculty and students engaged in EU studies. Additionally, the EU Center is a resource to furnish accurate and timely information regarding the EU to K-12 teachers, postsecondary faculty, government officials, media, business, and other civic groups.

The EU Center focuses on the changing nature of the European Union, its institutions, the EU's relations with the 27 member states, EU external relations, and other overarching themes across the EU. This approach complements the other programs at IU that focus on the study of the EU’s member states and neighbors. The EU Center is housed in the Institute for European Studies and builds on the strengths of other area studies and policy studies programs at IU. Together, these units train future generations of scholars and professionals in advanced, interdisciplinary EU studies and increase awareness of the EU in the broader community. Specific studies of EU member states are covered by the Institute for European Studies, the Russian & East European Institute, and the Department of Central Eurasian Studies.
