EU Workshop for Professors
Teaching about the EU in the Midwest
The Indiana University European Union Center and the IUPUI Department of Political Science are please to sponsor this half day workshop for university faculty from across the Midwest to meet and discuss methods for teaching about the European Union in the classroom to improve university-level education on the EU.
The discussion will be opened by Dr. Neill Nugent, Professor Emeritus of Politics and Jean Monnet Professor of European Integration at Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom. Dr. Nugent is the author of numerous scholarly works and textbooks, including The Government and Politics of the European Union.
Dr. John McCormick will act as moderator of the discussion. Dr. McCormick is Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Professor of European Union Politics at IUPUI. He is the author of many books textbooks on the European Union, including the newly revised Understanding the European Union: A Concise Introduction.
Participants are encouraged to bring syllabi from European Union related courses to help facilitate discussions. You can also submit these syllabi to the workshop's syllabi bank. Submitted syllabi will then be made available to the other participants who have also chosen to submit syllabi through a password protected website controlled by the EU Center. This workshop is free and open to any post-secondary instructor in the Midwest. To register, please click here. With support through grants from the European Union, we are able to offer travel support of up to $150 for a limited number of participants.
