Local Information
The conference will be held at the Indiana Memorial Union (IMU), 900 E. Seventh St., Bloomington, IN 47405, located on the campus of Indiana University. The Indiana University-Bloomington campus is a careful blend of traditional and modern architecture within a park-like environment. Made of locally quarried limestone, the University buildings add beauty and local charm to the scenic campus.
April is the beginning of spring. Temperatures generally range from highs in the mid-sixties to the lows in the low forties Fahrenheit. Rain is a possibility, so please pack accordingly.
For a quick cup of coffee or other light breakfast foods and snacks, there are several coffee shops close to campus, as well as a Starbucks and a bakery in the IMU. Off campus, we recommend Soma (322 E Kirkwood Ave) and Bloomington Bagel Company (113 N. Dunn). For a more substantial breakfast, we recommend Runcible Spoon (412 E. 6th Street) and the Village Deli (409 E. Kirkwood). Bloomingfoods (419 E. Kirkwood), an organic grocery store, is located behind the Bloomington Bagel Company.
Downtown Bloomington offers a variety of dining options. Many of the most interesting restaurants in Bloomington are located just west of campus on Fourth Street, Kirkwood, and the Square. Fourth Street runs one block north of Kirkwood and features Thai, Indian, Italian, Tibetan, Turkish and Burmese restaurants, several of which feature lunch buffets and outdoor seating. Kirkwood runs west of the University from the Sample Gates and is the location of restaurants which cater to the college student palate as well as options for those whose tastes are a bit more refined. Nick's English Pub is a Bloomington traditional pub fare. In addition to Nicks you can find Middle-Eastern, Mexican, Indian, Thai, and pizza. The downtown square is five blocks west of campus and offers several more upscale restaurants featuring Greek, Italian, and Irish food, as well as restaurants/delis serving sandwiches and burgers.
