Rebecca Gilbert, M. S.

Guest lecturer for Unit 4, Developmental Issues #1 Infancy through Early Adolescence

Rebecca Gilbert, is a graduate of Indiana University’s counseling psychology program. She has had a variety of experiences working with children and adolescents. At the Villages of Indiana and Kentucky, she worked with emotionally disabled boys between the ages of 7 and 12, who lived in a small group home. Taylorsville Elementary enabled her to work with a wide variety of children. Issues faced in the school ranged from organizational skills to classroom rages. Finally, at St. Vincent’s Stress center, Ms. Gilbert worked with adolescents who have chemical dependencies or anger management problems.

Ms. Gilbert is particularly interested in play therapy, a method which allows children to communicate in their own manner. She has completed an independent research project on the topic, and delivered a workshop on the history and use of play therapy with children at Indiana University’s Paul Munger Conference, conducted for counselors throughout the Midwestern US.
