Anthology and Texts

The "anthology" of readings is available through course reserves.

In addition, we will use the following personal accounts:

Corse, S. J. (2004). Cradled all the while: The unexpected gifts of a mother's death. Minneapolis, MN: Augsburg Books (ISBN: 0-8066-4644-6)

Van Reken, R E. (1988). Letters never sent: One woman's journey from hurt to wholeness. Indianapolis, IN: "Letters" (ISBN: 0-9646423-0-1)

Lifestories that depict loss and grief in families will be used in this class. In some instances, we will use these to initiate discussion on the discussion list. In other cases, we will analyze a lifestory as a means of better understanding one or more of the course topics. Some of these lifeststories are actual accounts of a loss. Others have been developed from the instructor's research, with aspects of a number of different reports incorporated into a single story.
