The End of Biochemistry

Sep 30, 2005

Paul, Ben, Jules, IU Northwest student Sara Brummett, and Kevin posing for a photo at Buffalo Wild Wings.I am now done with biochemistry! We took our final statewide exam on Tuesday. It was pretty difficult, but I was so relieved after the four and a half hours were up. I went to my preceptor afterward and observed an ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) to remove gall stones. It was a really interesting procedure to watch and a nice change from observing colonoscopies all afternoon.

Afterward, a lot of people from my class and I went out to Buffalo Wild Wings for Ben and Kevin’s birthday. It was fun to hang out in a setting outside of the medical school and to get to know people more. I think everyone is comfortable with each other at this point so everyone’s true personality is coming out, which is great.

Afterward I helped my friend Katie, another first-year who lives in the same apartment complex as I do, move a desk up to her apartment on the third floor. I have no idea how but we managed to make it all the way up without hurting ourselves or the desk. I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in a long time! We talked for a little while and then I headed back to my place to get some sleep for the beginning of a new set of classes.
