Who is Sophie Faught?

I realize that those of you who read the first entry I wrote know nothing about me, and therefore it probably meant nothing to you. I want to change that. I want you all to know what I’m talking about. I want you to have a context.

So this is me. I am 18 years old. I am a born and raised Hoosier from “Nap-town”—apparently that’s slang for Indianapolis. I have a younger brother with the exact same haircut as me, and two parents with very different (but very nice) haircuts. I play piano, tenor and alto saxophone, clarinet a tiny bit, and even a very, very small amount of flute, as of today.

My life revolves around music. I play jazz, I play classical, and occasionally I may even play a little funk, a little R&B. Secretly, I have always wanted to play John Mayer-style guitar, but I got a blister on my finger when I tried, and I have since given up.

I am a musician. They say that it’s not a career; it’s a compulsion. If you start, you can never stop. Once, I timed myself to see how long I could go without talking about music. The result—four minutes. I can’t help it. This is me.
