Three Languages Are Better than Two
Nov 29, 2005

Hey, everybody, sorry I haven't been able to get a new blog on here, I have been going through some school and family issues. My parents and my little brother, Eric, are planning on moving to Sao Paolo, Brazil, because of my father's work. That happens to be the third biggest city in the world!!! How crazy is that. I guess it’s kind of good. I am a business major, and I already speak fluent Spanish. Whenever I go over there, I can enroll in a language institute (presumably in the summer) and that will bring many more opportunities when I am applying for business internships. I’ll have three languages, that’s two more than most business people have. My brother is very upset, because he will be moving away his junior year, and he just finally got used to the "ville" after almost two years of residency.
Back to the main point of my entry. For Thanksgiving, my family had plans to go to Sao Paolo, Brazil, and look at apartments, my brother's future school, and just kinda get to know the city prior to living there. The apartments there are huge, my brother's school "Graded" (and yes, it is called Graded) is the best private school in the continent (South America, for those less geographically-inclined), and the food is outstanding. These are things I already knew before leaving for Brazil. I left school on Monday morning and got on the flight to Atlanta at 4:30 pm. We arrived in Atlanta at around 5:30, and our flight wasn't set to leave until 7 p.m., so we decided to go get something to eat. Popeye's chicken was our meal of choice. We only had 30 minutes to board, so we walked across the terminal, and what do we find out...???? Our visas were expired since we had left the SA (South America)!
The fact that we left VZLA (Venezuela) almost two years ago wasn't the least of our problems. We couldn’t get on the plane, so we had to catch the next flight back home, so we did. The flight was scheduled for 8:30. We got all our money back, because the Louisville airport didn’t catch that mistake. Our flight was delayed from 8:30 p.m. to 2:15 a.m.
I didn’t get in bed till 5 a.m. on Tuesday, I didn’t get to go to Brazil, but I did get to study for finals for the next three weeks....FUN, HUH!!!!
