A Weekend Move
Sep 30, 2005

This week has been mostly about family. My mother moved this past weekend, so I had to put school stuff on hold to drive four hours to Richmond, Indiana, and move a few truckloads of items—all while recovering from a cold.
The picture is of me and my mom’s dog Chica. She’s a little overweight as you can see. I was very happy to see her and the rest of the family despite the exhaustion of moving. But my weekend hiatus from schoolwork was no big deal because I still managed to get everything done that I needed to this week.
Every now and then I look back at my first time in college and I think, if only I would have read more, studied more, or spent more time on my classes, I might know a whole lot more today. However, returning to school again has reminded me why I didn’t. It’s because there is life beyond school. I know it is very important for me to keep a balance. Sure, I could spend hours reading everything and absorbing everything I can but, then I would sacrifice what my life has to teach me. That’s one of the things that I like about studying social work and psychology—my life enriches my studies and my studies improve my life. So it works out.
