Dealing with Exam Results

Oct 7, 2005

Well, my knowledge was tested twice this week. I did great on my statistics exam, but not so hot on my psychology research methods exam. So, it is a good thing that the one I did so badly on doesn’t actually affect my grade. The whole class did rather poorly; only one person got above an 80 percent. My professor made it fairly obvious that she was less than pleased. Apparently she didn’t care for the casual “oh, well” attitude that the class had displayed about the grades because we received the “exams are very serious business” speech.

Now, I’ll be the first to admit, as an older returning student, that the maturity level of the class is not at its highest. However, what’s done is done. Sometimes the only thing you can do to relieve some of the stress over grades and academic performance is to just laugh at yourself. I’m quite aware that my procrastination (one of my lesser qualities) was completely responsible for my poor grade, but I refuse to beat myself up over it in the middle of class. I’ll try my best on the next exam, and if I do better, great, but if I don’t, I’m still going to laugh at myself.
