I wrote the first rough draft to my first paper since, well, it’s been several years. I’ve never really been much of a writer. My spelling is horrible. When I need to, I can write fairly intelligently but my problem is I try to write like I speak. I love a good run-on sentence and I still don’t know what a past participle is. My theory has always been if you can read it and understand, it shouldn’t really matter if it follows every grammar rule. Unfortunately, the academic world does not agree with my theory. So, I’ll be paying a visit to the Writing Center before I turn in my final draft. Anyway, I got the first paper out of the way. I was kind of dreading it. I would prefer to take a test any day rather than write a paper.

This weekend I spent a bit more time enjoying the season. My boyfriend and I went to an orchard in lower Michigan. We picked apples, went through a small haunted house, pet some goats, drank cider, and went on a hay ride from place to place. The weather was beautiful. It was a last bit of sanity before starting another challenging week.

I also started my new job this week. Now I have one full-time job, a part-time job, and I’m going to school part time. I did some work trying to figure out how to manage my time and I basically concluded that I won’t have much time. I have figured out that after I take away the hours that I’ll be working, the time I go to classes, and eight hours to sleep, I’ll have about two and half hours each day to do everything else including eating, homework, driving to work, etc. Sounds like something has got to give, right? Well, that is the next decision that I need to make.
