Sorority Recruitment and Plans for the Purdue Game

Nov 16, 2005

Over the weekend I did Sorority Recruitment. So basically I had to go to all 19 chapters for 30 minutes over two days. We got tours of the houses and talked to a couple of the girls to ask questions about the house or why they choose to join, etc. Sometimes it was a lot of fun, especially in houses that I wanted to be in, but then you would have a terrible conversation with a girl and that was always very awkward. I told my friend from home what I was doing, and he basically thought I was crazy. Sororities have such bad reputations, but I am not really sure why. I mean I can understand some of them having bad reputations because there definitely were a couple that seemed stereotypical, but the whole idea behind them seems to be in the right place. There just seem to be a lot of opportunities by being in a chapter here like IU Sing and even just meeting a lot of new people.

I am excited about this weekend. My best friend Liz is coming up for the Purdue Game and so is my sister. Possibly even Mimi, who will end up bringing like five people with her, which makes sleeping arrangements in my room very interesting. I also can’t wait until Thanksgiving to see everyone! It’s been fun making plans with people and planning a big party for all of the seniors from last year to get together.
