“The wonders (and no such wonders) of cell phones”
Today, while driving back from school on 37 North toward Martinsville, I saw a large blue van pulled off to the shoulder of the road with a flat tire and steam coming out of the radiator. The passengers appeared to be a typical family of five with a pair of perfect parents, two apparently agitated grown children, and a nervous dog. The driver was standing beside the van with a mobile phone next to his ear. As I came closer, I noticed that printed on one side of the van in large italicized letters was the message "Christ saves us all." I couldn't help but wonder who the driver of the van was calling over his cell phone!!
Speaking of cell phones, when I reached home our mailman in all his generosity served me a list of bills including a mentally deranging cell phone bill (wonder why such things don’t get lost at the post office instead of my Nordstrom/Kauffman’s coupons). The amount I owe T-Mobile makes me feel grossly violated. After all, if the constitution allows us freedom of speech, why are we issued phone bills?
Anyway, for future instances most walls of my house have Post-It notes that read the following:
“Thou shall not grow overly attached to thy cell phone. For obvious reasons, an addictive dependency on being constantly "in touch" is not healthy (or wealthy as in my case)”
Did you listen to the Steve Vai number??

Disposition: Irritated: The CEO of T-Mobile better be sorry for making me pay this bill!!
