A Frustrating Chem Lab
Oct 14, 2005

The attached picture is of the gel that I was referring to in one of my previous entries. Although I cannot explain to you what it means very clearly just yet, I am beginning to understand. I was excited to see how well it came out.
Tonight, IUPUI is having its own version of Midnight Madness called the Jamboree. It will take place in the Jungle and will feature the basketball teams and other athletes and faculty. My chemistry lab partner, Elizabeth O’Brien, will definitely be there since she is on the Lady Jaguar basketball team.
Speaking of chemistry, this week’s lab was incredibly frustrating. The first of a series of tasks for Elizabeth and I to complete was to calibrate the heat capacity of our given calorimeter. To our dismay and after about 10 attempts, we were unsuccessful. This was the second night that we had to stay until the end of the class. Did I mention that this class runs until 10:05 p.m.? Despite how late it starts and ends, I do enjoy my time in there. Holly and Jenn have that class with me making it all the more comfortable.
It’s a shame that I cannot attend an array of events taking place tonight because I will be studying for my second chemistry test. I somewhat find it hard to believe that I am halfway through the semester as well.
However, to make up for studying tonight, I plan to go to the Pike soccer game. Yes, my former high school is currently number one in the state and number nine in the nation! Go, Red Devils!
