Tests, Tornado Sirens, an Interview, and Break

Another week here at IUPUI has come and gone. Despite the surge of horrible, unexpected weather, classes still went on. My condolences and sincerest sympathies go out to those who may have been affected by the recent turn of events. During the horrible storm on Tuesday, I had a chemistry lab that I had to attend. Who would have guessed it? The biggest quiz of the semester was occurring the day the tornado sirens were blaring. My friend Jennifer and I made it to class thanks to the lovely shuttle service that IUPUI provides to its students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

I did well on my last biology test of the semester. I am glad to see that my hard work paid off. The last two obstacles I have to tackle for biology include a lab practical exam and a final exam. In chemistry, I will undergo an interview tomorrow to determine if I can be a workshop (very similar to a recitation class) leader. I am anxious to get the interview over. The last time I had an interview was in the summer for a scholarship I was contending for. There was a time in my life, earlier this year in fact, when interviews were regular occurrences for me. I know that if I want to do well, I need to prepare myself mentally and practice verbally what I am going to say—tips I learned from my father that have helped me succeed in many instances.

In math, my third test was taken. My last one will be the week we return from, that’s right, Thanksgiving Break! This break, I plan to go to the Lord of the Rings Exhibit at the Indiana State Museum as I mentioned earlier and to watch some good movies. The semester is really winding down and the pressure of finals and performing during these last classes is really starting to reach everyone. It’s almost like the contagious cold that comes once a year. Only with finals, such an illness is experienced twice in a year.
