Farm Visit
Oct 20, 2005

Visiting Peden Farm with the Singapore Student Association last Friday was the most awesome experience I’ve had since I landed here. Being a city boy, visiting a farm was certainly eye-opening. The closest I ever came to seeing a farm was on TV and Paris Hilton was in it. If you’ve never visited a farm, you just have to do it. If you think visiting a farm isn’t your thing, then you’re missing out on a whole lot.
Upon navigating through the winding roads and hidden lanes (thank God for a brilliant driver), we finally reached Peden Farm. The ever hospitable Farmer Joe and his wife presented their array of tractors and domesticated birds. I may not be a connoisseur of fine vehicles, but the tractors just blew me away. Who knew that tractors came in all sorts of shapes, sizes, colors, and functions? Farmer Joe took us on a ride on one of his many tractors into the cow shed to feed the cows and, by George, was it terribly fun. Cows came from all directions and just feasted on the corn whole. Wait till I tell my friends back in the city that I fed a dozen cows. Now won’t they be impressed.
