Accredited ensembles are a regular part of Departmental course offerings, varying from year to year, according to available instructors. Previous years have featured ensembles focusing on music from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Mexico. |

Academic and Internship Opportunities |
Cooperative Programs
- The Council on Institutional Cooperation Traveling Scholars Program (CIC) allows students in residence at one of the Big Ten universities to enroll for a semester or year in any of the other universities in the program. CIC also maintains a cooperative arrangement with the College of Music in Zimbabwe that supports IU students engaged in fieldwork in East/Southern Africa.
- Anthropology and Arts Management Cooperative Program in museum studies provides experience in presentation of musical instuments and other performance artifacts.

- Archival materials and audio-recording through the Archives of Traditional Music (ATM) and the Archives of African American Music and Culture (AAAMC)
- Arts management and performing ensembles through the African-American Arts Institute (AAAI)
- Sound and video analysis through the Sound and Video Analysis and Instruction Laboratory (SAVAIL)

- TheWilliam Hammond Mathers Museumhouses more than 20,000 artifacts (including over 1,800 musical instruments) from all over the world and also provides work areas for students and faculty engaged in research.

Lotus World Music Festival
The annual Lotus World Music Festival features acoustic performers from around the world. Throughout the year, musical performances are held in Bloomington under the auspices of the Lotus World Music Concert Series. ESA frequently participate in its organization as well as volunteer work. |

Bloomington's community radio station has a world music show hosted by the ESA at IU. |
