The Department of French and Italian offers fellowships and teaching positions to its top graduate applicants to enable them to pay for their graduate education. Both types of support come with fee remission that covers 96.5% of the non-resident graduate tuition fees as well as health insurance coverage. For students pursuing first the MA and then the PhD degree, the regular funding package is for five years. Those with an MA from another institution are offered funding for four years. In addition, the Department has travel funds available on a competitive basis for graduate students giving conference papers.
