News & Activities
With over 20 faculty, 75 graduate students, and 209 undergraduate majors and minors, it's no surprise the Department of French and Italian at IU is one of the most active in the College. From soccer tournaments to workshops in the art of French cuisine to opera performances, our undergraduates are exposed to and actively engage in a wide array of cultural activities. With the support of the Department, the undergraduate clubs in French and Italian help organize and promote these numerous activities throughout the semester that enhance the experience of learning a new language for all.
Graduate students have the opportunity to meet some of the foremost scholars in thier disiplines during departmentally-sponsored guest lectures and various symposia on campus. Our graduate students also play active roles as teachers in the classroom and as scholars at international conferences. In addition, our award-winning faculty members frequently involve graduate students in their research projects. Both faculty and graduate students share their work during the department's annual Student-Faculty Forum Series.
