roy and alice leake overseas study scholarship

Roy and Alice Leake both contributed very significantly to the advancement of the study of the French Language at Indiana University. Besides his admirable work and research as a professor in the Department of French and Italian, Professor Roy Leake dedicated a great deal of energy and time to other endeavors and projects in which he was accompanied and supported by his wife, Alice. Together they led the academic year-length Overseas Study Program in Strasbourg (1967-68), and for five consecutive summers (1970 through 1974) the Honors Program for High School Students in St. Brieuc.

As a testimony of deepest gratitude and highest esteem for their vast knowledge of the French language and culture, their tireless efforts, their kindness and generosity toward the students entrusted to them, the Office of Overseas Study and the Honors Program in Foreign Languages for High School Students will award one $2000 scholarship annually to a former participant in the Honors Program who participates in the Overseas Study Aix-en-Provence Academic Year Abroad Program.

Contributions to the Leake Scholarship may be directed to the Office of Overseas Study, Franklin Hall 303, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN 47405. Checks should be made out to Indiana University. Questions about the scholarship should be directed to overseas @indiana.edu or 812-855-9304
