Job Opportunities for Foreign Language Graduates
As more and more people are discovering, the chances of finding an interesting job are much better for college graduates who possess foreign language skills. Here is a sampling of what recent language graduates are now doing:

Foreign language skills are also essential for many jobs in global businesses such as computing, marketing, and finance. You might consider adding a minor in Computer Science or Information Technology to your program of study, or taking courses in the School of Business.
Another career option is teaching. To obtain a teaching certificate in your foreign language, you should consult with the Indiana University School of Education. One additional year of course work and student teaching is generally required to add a teaching certificate to your BA degree. If you are planning to pursue graduate studies to enable you to teach at the university level, you may wish to consult with our departmental graduate advisors for suggestions on how to best prepare for this path.
Both in the US and abroad, the language and communication skills acquired by French and Italian majors make any résumé more attractive to prospective employers.
