Waitlist Procedures for French & Italian

The waitlist feature of the Registration System is meant to give students who encountered a "closed" section another chance to enroll in the class. See the Registrar's website for waitlist information. Students interested in a French and Italian class should:

Waitlist early.
Students should consult the Schedule of Classes for instructions regarding this procedure.

Stay on the waitlist through the end of the first week of classes.
The waitlist is maintained by the Office of the Registrar and your instructor does not have control over it. Instructors do not have the authority to allow students in their sections during the waitlist period. If the section is closed, the student must wait until a space opens. The number of vacant seats in the room has no bearing on obtaining the section during the first week of classes. Many rooms have larger seating capacity than the maximum enrollment figures set for the course.

Go to the class the first week and introduce yourself to the instructor.
If you remember your position on the waitlist, let your instructor know that also. Keep up with the syllabus and do the assignments so you can stay current in the class. This in no way guarantees you a seat in the class but it does give the instructor the message that you are serious about being in the class. It also prevents you from falling behind if you do get into the class.

Check your enrollment status daily.
Waitlist requests will be processed by the Registrar's Office on a daily basis through the end of the first week of classes. You will be sent an e-mail if you are put into the class. To determine the last day of waitlist processing, go to Official Calendar, click on the semester, and then scroll down to the "Registration" portion of the calendar.

After the last day of waitlist processing, all unsatisfied waitlist requests EXPIRE.
Once waitlist processing is complete, if you have not been placed and still want to add the class, you should ask your instructor if he/she will approve an eAdd for you. If your instructor agrees, follow the eAdd/eDrop procudure in OneStart as soon as possible.

Schedule adjustment fee
If you waitlisted yourself during Continuing Student Registration or New Student Registration, you will not be charged a schedule adjustment fee by the Bursar’s Office. If you waitlisted yourself during the first week of classes, you will be charged the fee.

Additional questions
All other waitlist questions should be directed to the Registration Support Center at 855-8200 or email RegHelp @indiana.edu. If you have questions about application of fees, please consult your Schedule of Classes or call the Bursar's Office at 855-2636.
