The Circolo Italiano meets each week and is open to all who want to interact in a friendly environment in order to improve their language skills, regardless of their academic affiliation. In addition to showing Italian films (with English subtitles), the Circolo offers the chance for conversation with many native speakers and other students of Italian.
The combined French Club and Circolo Italiano Mardi Gras/Carnevale event is Tuesday, March 4, 6:30-8:00pm in BH 008.
For Spring 2014, Circolo Italiano will meet on the following nights for conversation, cultural exchange, food, and fun. These Thursday meetings will start 5:45 pm and run to 7:00 pm. All those interested in conversing in Italian are invited to the meetings of Circolo.

A Night at the Opera
Once or twice each academic year, the Italian program organizes a trip to the Musical Arts Center at our own Jacobs School of Music to see an opera sung in Italian. If you have never been to an opera before or fear you won't like it, we're pretty sure you'll be surprised. This semester’s Night of the Opera is Verdi’s famous “La Traviata,” on Friday, April 11. Italian students will meet in the lobby of the Musical Arts Center at 7:40 pm. For discounted tickets, please check with your Italian instructor.
Campionato di calcetto
Each spring semester the Italian program hosts an indoor soccer championship. Teams are composed of students from each Italian class who play a set of exhilarating, Italian-speaking and cheering single-elimination soccer matches. This year’s championship will be on Thursday, April 3. More details to be announced soon.
Holiday Party and Talent Show
On Wednesday, December 4, the Italian program will hold its annual student talent show (in Italian of course) in Ballantine Hall 008 at 6 pm. Students can sing, act, recite, juggle, dance, play or perform anything they wish to share with their peers in this holiday atmosphere. You are welcome to join us, whether you want to be on stage or in the audience. Potential performers should contact Circolo coordinator Carlotta Paltrinieri.
Indiana Oggi - Parole in Libertà
The last two years, a student group has published an all-Italian newspaper with help from Italian instructors. The paper has come out in April and included faculty profiles, news stories, photos, comics, and recipes. We plan to publish another edition this year. View the newspaper.
