Circolo Italiano

The Circolo Italiano meets regularly and is open to all who want to interact in a friendly environment in order to improve their language skills, regardless of their academic affiliation. In addition to showing Italian films (with English subtitles), the Circolo offers the chance for conversation with many native speakers and other students of Italian.

Activities

Join us to practice your Italian and learn about Italian culture! For more information on any of our events, please contact the Circolo coordinator, Sara Dallavalle.

Annual Events

Each year, we generally host one or two “Night at the Opera” events, where we get together to see an Italian opera at the Musical Arts Center, performed through the Jacobs School of Music. We also host an annual holiday party and talent show in December, where students can sing Italian songs, recite poetry, or perform short skits in Italian, while also learning about Italian Christmas traditions. We have also hosted a spring “campionato di calcetto” in recent years—an indoor soccer tournament where the different Italian classes comprise teams to compete.
