After little activity in
recent years, students decided to revive the Filipino
Student Association. The 2004-2005 school year was spent
rebuilding the organization and working hard to get our
name out there. It was a successful year and we hoped to
continue to promote awareness of FSA and the Filipino
culture.

FSA participated in
FACT, a national conference for Filipino-American
students held at the University of Michigan. FSA
also held a successful Holiday Fundraiser
as well as participating in Mr/Ms Asia where Jon
Ramos and Kim Trocio were voted Most Popular.

The 2005-2006 school year
was even more of a success. With more members we
were able to do more service activities such as
raising $8,600 in relief for the Leyte mudslide victims
and holding our annual Holiday Fundraiser.
FSA participated Mr/Ms Asia again and this time
representatives Alana Bentley and Jeff Capati were
crowned Mr. and Ms. Asia. Thanks to the success of
Mr/Ms Asia, FSA was invited to perform cultural dances
during Asiafest for the Bloomington
community.
With the success of the
past two years we can only hope to continue to grow as
an organization and continue our goal of sharing
Filipino culture with IU and Bloomington.
