The State Planning Handbook is designed to be used by state organizations to follow-up the efforts initiated during the 2002 Multi-Site School Psychology Futures Conference. It is clear that if we are to impact the training and practice of school psychology, change will need to take place simultaneously at a national, state, and local level. For this reason, we hope the handbook will assist state associations to develop their own strategic plans to support the Futures goals established at the national level. A PowerPoint presented by Pat Harrison at the NASP Delegate Assembly meeting in July, 2003 provides a good overview of the efforts of the conference. Additional background on the state planning effort may be obtained from an article, "State Planning Strategies for the Future of School Psychology," by John Desrochers in the Septemeber, 2003 issue of the Communiqué.
