About Welcome Week at IU Bloomington

Whether you are new to the college experience, new to the Indiana University - Bloomington campus, or just want to get reacquainted with the university or re-connect with friends, Welcome Week is for you.

From the pomp and circumstance of the Freshman Induction Ceremony, to the excitement of the Traditions and Spirit of IU and the celebration of CultureFest, there is every opportunity to truly feel what it means to be a Hoosier.

On your checklist of “things to do” as you prepare for fall semester, be sure to include time for this important week.   Some events, such as community or advising meetings, are required and intended to get you off to a great start in your academics or in your residence center. There are great traditions and personalized activities.   You’ll also want to fit in some time to explore the campus and Bloomington, get to know your roommate, and get ready for classes, of course. Student living on campus will receive a complete Welcome Week booklet as they move in; it will also be available online in mid-August. Students living off campus will be contacted about the booklet, and about special meetings just for them.

Everything is designed with you in mind --- the big events, the small events, the social events and the academic events. Don’t miss out -- we will provide you with the information and tools you need to make your college transition and experience a successful one. Participate, discover, and take advantage of all IU has to offer!
