EXERCISE SET II

Ocean Waters and Atmospheric Gases:

  • The principal aims of the individual assignments are as follows:
    • to explore the variations in global seawater surface temperatures.
    • to evaluate controls on surface seawater salinity.
    • to determine the characteristics that define and distinguish water masses.
    • to investigate annual variability in sea ice production and iceberg calving.
    • to explore anthropogenic changes in atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide.
    • to examine seasonal and temporal development of the Antarctic ozone hole.
  • The overall objective of these assignments is to demonstrate the spatial and temporal variability in various characteristics of the oceans and atmosphere that are closely related to climate.
