INSTRUCTIONS: First Time Tasks
Overview
For this "technical" aspect of this assignment, you will download a
Microsoft Word file, replace the images and text in the file with your
own, save the file as a web page, and publish it to portfolio.iu.edu. Your
instructors will make links to your web pages on the Berlin project page.
Complete the following three steps before you begin working on your
Word file.
First Time Tasks and Basic Organization
1. Verify your CFS information
Your CFS account provides you with a place to keep your files while
you are constructing them. You will be able to access your CFS account
from any Student Technology Center, or from home via the Web.
-
See the document "What is
the CFS service?".
-
Make sure you can use your CFS account in the Student Technology Centers.
-
Alternatively, you may store your files on a floppy disk; it is a good
idea to keep a backup copy of your files.
2. Verify your Portfolio information
We will publish your web pages using portfolio.iu.edu.
3. Create a folder in your CFS account or on your diskette
Keep all of your work related to this project in this folder. This
will help you and the AIs troubleshoot any problems that may arise. See
how to
get images, if you need to learn how to save or create images. Save
the images in your work folder.
