INSTRUCTIONS: Templates
Download and Use a Template

For this assignment, we have created Microsoft Word templates. Basically, you will download a Word document, replace the images and text in the file with your own, and then save the file as a web page.

1. Review the First Time Tasks:

  • Verify your CFS and Portfolio accounts.
  • Create a folder on your CFS account or on your diskette.
  • Save images in your folder. See the information on how to get images if you need to.

2. Select and download a template

  • Download and save the Word document into the folder you have created for this project on your CFS account or your floppy disk.
  • Edit the Word document, replacing the images and text with your own. You may need to change the "View" in Word to "Normal" to see the template properly. Insert images using the Insert menu in Word rather than using copy and paste (Insert>Picture>from file). See how to get images if you need to.
  • Cite your sources for information and images.
  • Put your name somewhere in the file to identify yourself as the author.
  • Have your edited document (in the folder you have created on your CFS account or floppy disk) at the meeting in the computer lab.
