About the GASLA Conference
Established at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1992, Generative Approaches to Second Language Acquisition (GASLA)
is a biannual international conference. It is devoted to mentalist aspects of Second Language Acquisition, such as the description of nonnative grammars, similarities and differences between first and second language acquisition, sentence processing in nonnative acquisition, etc.
Presenters come from North America, South America, Europe and Asia. Meetings have been held at institutions with strong research contributions to the field of Generative Approaches to Second Language Acquisition: MIT (twice), CUNY, McGill, Pittsburgh/Carnegie-Mellon, and University of Ottawa/Carleton University. GASLA attracts approximately 100 participants.
