Major: Comparative Literature

 

Biography

A native of Ponce, Puerto Rico, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez with a degree in Comparative Literature before starting her PhD at IUB with the help of a Scholars Fellowship.  She has presented her work in Puerto Rico, Minneapolis and Tampa, among other places.

 

Concentration

 

 

 

Areas of Interest

gender representation and cross dressing in Japanese animation (anime) and comics (manga), as well as the reception of these cultural texts abroad. Other research interests include queer literary theory,  theatrical cross dressing and gender in popular culture.
